Division MTC offers an opportunity for postdoctoral research studies in Tumor Biology. The research of the Arsenian Henriksson group is focused on the childhood cancers neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma. Today, neuroblastoma ranks as the most common and aggressive solid tumor in infants with 90% of cases diagnosed by age 5. Medulloblastoma is a highly malignant and the most common brain tumor in children, accounting for 20% of all childhood brain cancers. One of the more robust prognostic markers in both neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma is MYCN/MYCC amplification, which is strongly associated with advanced disease stages, rapid tumor progression, and poor outcome.

The group has previously demonstrated that MYCN inhibition leads to metabolic alterations and results in lipid accumulation in neuroblastoma cells (Zirath et al. PNAS 2013). The aim of the current project is to study how MYCN/MYCC control the energy metabolism in neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma using a combination of proteomics, metabolic profiling and gene expression dataset analysis (Cell Reports 2016; Dzieran et al. PNAS 2018)

Entry requirements
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence.  The successful candidate has already made one or two postdoc periods.

We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, responsible researcher who has the capacity to work independently as well as in a team. A PhD degree awarded in molecular biology with experience in neuroblastoma and metabolism is required. The applicant should have a strong background in molecular cell biology and cancer metabolism. Practical experience of standard cell biology techniques, including real time metabolic functional assays in mammalian cells. Experience in the design of in vitro and in vivo studies; analysis of proteomic and genomic data and expert skills in statistical evaluation of data. The applicant should have expertise in biochemical and molecular biology techniques. Experience with mouse models, stereotactic injections and primary cell culture is a requirement.

The successful candidate needs to have experience in design and analysis of in vivo as well as in vitro drug studies. Previous experience in training master students is an advantage.
