Karolinska Institutet, Institutionen för medicinsk epidemiologi och biostatistik

The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is among the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe with special focus on increasing our knowledge of the aetiology of different diseases. Our department consists of researchers, doctoral students, biostatisticians, data collectors and database administrators as well as administrative personnel, in total some 250 staff. The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at ki.se/meb

The positions are in the biostatistics group; in our group we perform our own methodological research as well as get involved in many research collaborations in medicine and epidemiology, starting with questions on study designs, data analysis, to interpretation of results and publications. Our works deal with data that come from national registers as well as from high-throughput genetic and molecular studies based on patient samples.

Position 1. Statistical analysis of clinical and epidemiological data using a range of study designs, statistical models and software packages; collaborating in the interpretation of results and drafting of scientific papers. Position 2. Bioinformatics analysis of next-generation sequencing data, especially RNA-sequencing data, down-stream gene-expression data analysis and omics integration analysis in cancer.

Entry requirements
Position 1. MSc in biostatistics, epidemiology, or an equivalent qualification, a broad knowledge of experimental and observational study designs and the common statistical models used in their analysis; experience of different data sources/structures and areas of health and clinical research; skills in data management and analysis using statistical software. Position 2. BSc in computational biology and experience with analysis of next-generation sequencing data, especially establishing bioinformatics analysis pipeline for RNA-sequencing data and down-stream analysis of the gene-expression data.

Application process
The application is to be submitted on the Varbi recruitment system.
