Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME) works within some of the key areas important to fulfilling the motto of Karolinska Institutet ´to improve human health´. We focus on research, development and education in the following areas: medical and healthcare education, informatics, management, ethics, and suicide prevention. We are now looking for a project coordinator and design thinking faciliator to The Unit for Bioentrepreneurship (UBE) for a one year contract. 

About UBE

UBE conducts research on and education in innovation and entrepreneurship. As an academic unit at Karolinska Institutet (KI), UBE can be considered as the first proactive link in KI’s innovation system.

A two-year global Master's programme is offered at the unit, together with programme elective and single subject courses. UBE is the KI node of the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (an academic collaboration between KI, the Stockholm School of Economics, the Royal Institutet of Technology, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, and Stockholm University) providing interdisciplinary education.

Since January 2016, UBE is responsible for the KI educational activities within the consortium EIT Health, a EU initiative investing in innovative solutions to ageing and health. With the help of this program, KI wants to encourage students and researchers to develop an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset and approach.

We are looking for a motivated and responsible team player, who will further develop the practice-oriented and joint educational activities of UBE. You have an innovative and open minded attitude towards your work and work environment and a passion for education, entrepreneurship and innovation, especially in the medical and health care field.


  • Hosting workshops in design methodology such as Design Thinking, providing knowledge of innovation processes and entrepreneurship to students of all levels and/or teachers from the study fields of KI
  • Pro-active development of practice-oriented curricula for KI/UBE’s and joint university education program
  • Project management of diverse educational projects and courses within KI and in cooperation with external partners (universities and industry)
  • Participating in KI's other educational projects and activities

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in Design Thinking facilitation, coaching and practice (projects and workshops)
  • Experience in teaching and education (in English)
  • Thorough knowledge of creative innovation processes
  • Hands on experience in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs in the personal network
  • Preferably professional background in the medicine field, biomedical sciences, or similar

Since the position involves close interaction with several different stakeholders, emphasis is placed on personal skills such as:

  • interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
  • pedagogic and analytical skills
  • ability to work independently
  • comfort of speaking to all levels of staff and collaborators at all levels of the organization and people with diverse cultural backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree (Master degree or higher)
  • Education in Design Thinking (e.g. at Stanford d.school or HPI School of Design Thinking)
  • Experience in Design Thinking facilitation/coaching
  • Work experience in diverse settings (e.g. university, corporate, entrepreneurial)
  • Proficient English is a prerequisite, fluent Swedish an advantage
