Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (MBB)
The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (MBB) conducts research in basic science, particularly focusing on discovering the mechanisms that cause diseases. Many of the diseases studied are common diseases and some are also linked to poverty.

MBB consists of twelve research divisions which are involved in teaching and research within the fields of protein chemistry, redox biochemistry, metabolism, lipid research, inflammation research, structural biochemistry, molecular biochemistry, tissue biology, and developmental biology.

Area of responsibilities/description of work
The department is looking for one lab engineer. The position is available immediately in the laboratory of Professor Jussi Taipale/Inderpreet Sur (http://www.bionut.ki.se/taipale/). The Taipale group includes both experimental biologists and computer scientists, and is currently composed of eight postdoctoral fellows and two graduate students. The group’s focus is on systems biology of cancer.

You will participate in routine research work such as handling and maintenance of genetically modified mice, tissue processing, protein purification, cell culture, and molecular biology (e.g. PCR, and Western blotting). In addition, responsibilities include taking care of the common laboratory space, equipment, reagents and glassware, and filing documents and other routine administrative tasks such as accepting shipments, ordering consumables and handling invoices. In addition the Lab is relocating and you will be required to organise the move of Lab equipment and reagents, etc. to the new buildings.

The position is Project employment for 6 months with the possibility of extension.

We are seeking highly motivated applicants with very good organizational and communication skills, who are punctual and able to work independently and learn new techniques. Applicants should hold a minimum of B.Sc. or "yrkeshögskola" level degree in molecular biology or biomedical sciences. The position also requires excellent communication skills in English and Swedish. Work experience in a similar position is desirable.
