Ming Wai Lau Centre for Reparative Medicine (MWLC) aims to contribute to the improvement of human health by conducting cutting-edge research in reparative medicine and related subjects, by creating a new platform for synergies between academia and innovation in Sweden and Hong Kong as well as China, and fostering future leaders in both academia and industry.

Description of research group and project

The current research of Assistant Professor Sijie Chen aims at developing novel fluorescence based tools and technology for biological research, especially mechanobiology studies.

One postdoc position in Mechanobiology and Bioimaging

We are looking for a highly-motivated, creative researcher, who enjoys an interdisciplinary, open and collaborative environment, with the following qualifications, experience and skills:

  • PhD in Life sciences, Biotechnology or Bioengineering or related disciplines.
  • A strong publication record in peer reviewed journals.
  • Expertise in mechanobiology, and/or bioimaging
  • Documented experience in one or both research areas of 1. mechanobiology 2. cell imaging, in vivo imaging, image processing and analysis
  • Knowledge of fluorescence, fluorescent probes and fluorescence based techniques.
  • Experience in mammalian cell (especially stem cell) culture, 3D cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, atomic-force microscopy, optical tweezers, biochemical and molecular biology techniques, is preferred.
  • It is advantageous to have experience in biomaterials, fluorescence lifetime imaging or super-resolution imaging.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is required.

The employment

This is a two-year fixed-term position, with the possibility of renewal.

The assignment is located at MWLC, Hong Kong, and the employment will follow local labour laws in Hong Kong.

A competitive remuneration package with 10% on top of basic salary intended as pension, MPF employer’s contribution and medical benefits will be offered.

Entry requirement

A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
