Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research
and teaching in immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 430 active
employees, including 81 PhD students, 77 postdoctoral researchers and 32 professors. Key words are
multidisciplinary, bridging, translational, national and international collaborations.

MTC is offering a position for postdoctoral studies in the field of Tumor Biology in the group of
Professor Marie Arsenian Henriksson. The group is working on the biology of childhood neuroblastoma.
The available postdoctoral position concerns understanding the contribution of MYCN proteins and
neural differentiation, please see Ribeiro et al., Cell Reports 2016.

Entry requirements

Applicants to this position must have a PhD and two years postdoctoral training in Cancer Cell Biology. The successful applicant should have expertise in cell culture, imaging, FACS and basic molecular biology techniques. Previous experience in metabolism and bioinformatics is an advantage. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in cellular and molecular biology and dedication to cancer research.
Very good knowledge of English language is a prerequisite. Social skills and an ability to cooperate are also important qualifications.

Scholarships for carrying out postdoctoral research may be granted to persons living in other countries who come to Sweden with the intention of only staying in Sweden for all or part of their postdoctoral education at KI. Persons who are resident in Sweden and/or have carried out all or part of their academic education at KI or some other educational institution in Sweden cannot be considered for scholarships from KI. The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish PhD or higher.

Type of scholarship
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent. This educational scholarship is tax-exempt.

The amount is set for twelve months at a time and is paid out on a monthly basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
