IMM conducts cutting edge research within the areas of environmental and occupational medicine, toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics with the aim to clarify how environmental and lifestyle factors affect our health and which role genes have. IMM also serves as a scientific advisor to public authorities within the area of environmental medicine and IMM scientists participate in national and international expert groups.

Division

The research assistant will work at the Unit of Work Environment Toxicology at IMM. Our research aims to increase knowledge in occupationally and environmentally related skin diseases, risk factors and prevention. We use experimental, clinical and epidemiological methodology in our studies.

Duties

We are looking for a research assistant that will perform experimental work in on-going research projects. We are currently evaluating metal and skin interactions to gain knowledge on how quickly metals penetrate into the skin. The applicant should be able to independently perform laboratory tasks such as skin absorption experiments using Franz’s diffusion cells, preparation of samples and performing ICP-MS analysis as well as evaluate the data from the experiments. Apart from laboratory work the research assistant will take part in the unit’s internal meetings, and contribute with scientific writing.

Entry requirements

We are looking for a motivated research assistant with a Master of Science degree in Toxicology. Experience from working with inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry applications is a requirement; experience from diffusion cell work is a merit. The research assistant must have excellent communication skills in English, a strong background in performing laboratory experiments, an ability to interact scientifically with other members in the laboratory and the research group, and also work both independently and as part of the team. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
