The research group of Cancer Genomics at MEB is headed by professor Henrik Grönberg and has a translational focus, with the goal to pursue clinically relevant research questions. The division is currently conducting large studies in prostate cancer where genomic profiling is used to address tumor grading, prognostication at diagnosis and optimizing treatment in the metastatic setting. The research group is currently responsible for targeted sequencing in a clinical trial, where the tumor profile is used for randomization of colorectal cancer patients. During 2017, the division will also enable live profiling of circulating tumor DNA in metastatic prostate cancer in a clinical trial setting.
The Cancer Genomics group is part of a larger research environment with 20-25 persons focused on different aspects of prostate cancer.
The researcher will lead and plan the work a core group consisting of four lab engineers and two bioinformaticians. The researcher is also expected to continuously write and submit articles to peer-reviewed journals.
A person is eligible to be appointed Senior Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant professor.
Bases of assessment
We stress research expertise when assessing applicants. The researcher must have at least five years of experience from working with cancer genomics. Cancer genomics refers to projects where massive parallel sequencing is applied to address research questions. The experience required includes both detailed knowledge about how to process samples in the lab and also computational skills, as the researcher will lead the development of both activities. The reseracher will be responsible for the genomics lab and lead a group of 6-8 people. Experience of supervision of staff is necessary.
An application must contain the following documents in English: Curriculum vitae, qualifications and description of planned research, presented in accordance with Karolinska Institutet’s qualifications portfolio (http://ki.se/qualificationsportfolio).
The application is to be submitted through the MyNetwork recruitment system.
At Karolinska Institutet a 6-month trial period is required for all permanent appointments.
