The Department is organized in 10 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Surgery, Neuropediatrics, Pediatric Oncology, Neonatology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Neuropsychiatry (KIND), Reproductive and Perinatal Health. The divisions have separate scientific profiles and vary in size and have several research groups, dealing with both basic and clinical science.

Division and Duties
This is a collaborative research project investigating the neurobiology of gender identity, and self identity in general. The focus is on the perception of own body in the concept of self. The study will be conducted both at the Karolinska Institute (PI Professor Ivanka Savic) and at UCLA (PI Professor Jamie Feusner). The post doc is expected to lead and co-ordinate data collection, analysis and interpretation. There is senior mentoring at several levels and aspects of the project. Our team consists of physicians, physicists, psychologists and biomedical experts, and our laboratory has expertise in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), PET, and psychophysics. We have MeG and TMS facilities. We have access to two state-of-the-art 3-Tesla MRI scanners (both sites) and the latest generation of the PET scanner (Karolinska Institute and Hospital).

Entry requirements
We are seeking a highly talented, innovative and enthusiastic researcher with a PhD in medicine, psychology or physics, and with experience of brain imaging (the latter is mandatory).

The ideal candidate will have expertise in Cognitive neuroscience, human brain imaging (PET, MRI), and mathematics, have knowledge about brain anatomy, and insight in experimental psychology. The applicant should have experience in MRI acquisition and analysis, good programming skills (eg Linux, Matlab, Python), basic knowledge of statistics and an appreciation of methodological issues in cognitive brain imaging. You will be thorough, efficient, a good communicator, and enjoy working as part of a diverse and energetic, interdisciplinary team, and accept travels between the two sites. You will organize methodology workshops för PhD post-doctoral students of the institutions. You will also have many opportunities to own development including national and international workshops and meetings.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a consistently good academic record, including publications in international journals. Applicants are expected to have the knowledge of post processing of the MRI data including analysis of fMRI time series with calculations of functional connectivity, multivariate pattern analysis, analyses of structural connectivity and computational morphometry, and gene brain interaction. There are several on going joint programs covering various fields (e.g., effect of chronic stress on the brain, impact of sex hormones on cerebral physiology and behaviour, self identity in human epilepsy) that you could also be part of.

The position is for 1+1 years. The position will be at KI to finalize data collection there, and includes visits to UCLA for the top of the art analysis. Good salary. Applicants with a foreign PhD are welcome.

A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
