Karolinska Institutet, Department of Medicine, Solna, Clinical Epidemiology division

The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several units that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

The research group in chronic inflammatory disease epidemiology is based at the Clinical Epidemiology Division at the Department of Medicine in Solna. Our research group comprises approximately 20 people (doctoral students, postdocs, statisticians, senior researchers) with different backgrounds but with common research interests, namely the study of inflammatory diseases using Swedish national registers and clinical data. See our homepage for more information about who we are and what we do (http://ki.se/en/meds/kepchronic-inflammatory-diseases). Our research is supported by several different funding sources, both public and private.

In addition to the preparation and execution of Statistical Analysis Plans for specific projects, with results intended as internal safety reports or publications in peer-reviewed journals, this will involve giving seminars or contributing to teaching on methodological and statistical topics.

Entry requirements
The successful applicant should have degree PhD in biostatistics with formal training in both Epidemiology and Pharmacoepidemiology. Expert knowledge in statistical programming to perform advanced data management and statistical analysis using SAS and R on large-scale register data is a requirement. We expect the applicant to have several years of work experience with applied biostatistics in epidemiology or pharmacoepidemiology Experience of working with the Nordic national health or quality of care registers is essential.
The position will require interactions with researchers, clinicians, and representatives from pharmaceutical industry; experience from these domains are considered a merit.
