At the Department of Oncology-Pathology basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer is carried out. Approximately 300 people from over 40 nations are currently working at the department. 37 research groups with various cancer research profiles are involved and we have around 120 PhD students. The Department of Oncology-Pathology is responsible for undergraduate courses in Pathology, Oncology and Forensic Medicine for medical students, as well as for Tumor biology courses for biomedicine students and Pathology courses for opticians.

Research Group

Description of the research project/area of research
The project focus on in vivo mice xenograft studies of lung cancer and assessment of response to growth factor receptor targeting agents, experimental therapeutics and associated kinome signaling. As postdoc in this project, you will be responsible for planning and practically conducting the in vivo xenograft studies with accompanying in vivo imaging assessments. You will also work with cell-and molecular biology methods to explore treatment responses in xenografts focusing on growth receptor and DNA damaging signaling.

Qualifications of the applicant
The position is an 8-month limited position. We seek a Postdoc who is highly motivated, and with a completed PhD thesis on in vivo tumor xenograft models or similar. The candidate should be able to independently carry out in vivo xenograft experiments. Candidates with prior knowledge of IVIS imaging of tumors are prioritized. Central in the work will be establishment of LC xenografts in mice. The candidate therefore needs to have documented experience of conducting such experiments and should hold a FELASA C certificate or Function A for Rodents and lagomorphs issued for work in Sweden.

As the research group has members from different parts of the world the candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English which is the language used in the group. Interpersonal skills and personal suitability is also considered important for this position.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.

Applicants that have completed their PhD degree no more than two years before the last date for applications will be given priority. Candidates who have completed their degree earlier than this should receive equal priority if special grounds exist.
