The Department of Neurobiology Care Sciences and Society comprises 11 divisions and has about 500 employees. The NVS-department is located at KI Campus-Huddinge. The Department is responsible for education at basic and advanced levels, research education and clinical and experimental research within the different areas represented by the divisions.

Division
Division of Translational Alzheimer Neurobiology consist of a multi-disciplinary team at the forefront of translational Alzheimer´s disease (AD) research using cutting-edge technology with aims to develop new diagnostic biomarkers and new treatment strategies in AD.

Duties
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated young scientist interested in working in a multi- disciplinary team with focus to apply in vitro imaging techniques and protein chemistry to characterize and quantify pathological changes and molecular signalling mechanisms in autopsy brain samples and in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease. Improved understanding of the underlying molecular pathophysiology in Alzheimer’s disease will aid in the development of novel in vivo molecular imaging PET tracers as well as possible new drug targets.

The environment provides excellent training for an assistant  professor in an international working environment, national and international collaborations, and possibilities to publish in high impact journals.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible to be appointed Assistant professor if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence. The persons appointed should primarily be the ones who have been granted a Degree of Doctor or have reached the corresponding competence no more than seven years before the end of the application period.

We seek for a scientist with a minimum of four years postdoc experience that possess a PhD degree (or equivalent) with experience in neurochemistry, biochemistry, neuropharmacology, neuroanatomy, molecular biology, radiochemistry. The applicant should have experience in receptor binding, autoradiography (especially thin large section), immunohistochemistry analysis methods in human autopsy brain material and transgenic mice.

The candidate should have strong competence in running projects independently but also have good abilities for team work and scientific cooperation with other researchers, post docs and students in the laboratory. The applicant is expected to supervise graduate students and PhD students and to participate as teacher in different educational courses as well as presenter of his /hers research at international conferences. The applicant should have excellent communication skills and is expected to write and apply for grants.
