The “Cancer Therapy” group at the Karolinska Institutet – SciLifeLab, led by Oscar Fernandez-Capetillo has an Assistant Professor vacancy. Based on our prior experience, our research focuses on phenotypic screenings aiming to find genes or chemicals that can be of help in fighting against age-related diseases currently lacking a cure. Duties
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or other relevant fields. Experience in high-throughput imaging and screenings is mandatory. Complete fluency in both written and spoken English is a request. The candidate’s communication and personal skills will be highly valued. The candidate will be expected to supervise Postdocs, PhDs and master students as well as to coordinate the research in the group. Writing grants and applying for funding will be requested, as well as designing and executing projects. Teaching will be also part of the duties.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible to be appointed Assistant professor if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence. The persons appointed should primarily be the ones who have been granted a Degree of Doctor or have reached the corresponding competence no more than seven years before the end of the application period. Experience with high-throughput techniques, cell based phenotypic screens as well as RNAi and compound screening, image-analysis and large data analysis is required.

Bases of assessment
We stress scientific expertise when assessing applicants. The applications will be externally reviewed and the assessment will be done according to the applicant’s competence (publications, academic studies and research merits, funding and distinctions) and scientific quality of the project (originality, goals, relevance, viability and methodology).
